Just a Spoon Full of Sugar

New Computer

We recently purchased a new Dell computer for the office.  I decided that I wanted to upgrade and get more Dell Memory.  I have always had a really good history with Dell and love their computers.  I got the memory and it was so easy to install.  I can't believe how much faster the computer is compared to our old computer.  It is just amazing.  I am now trying to work on getting us high speed Internet, but since we live in the boonies, we can't get it through the cable company because we don't have cable.  I am trying to get satellite Internet through our satellite company, but the cost is a little our of our range at this point.  I know if we just hang in there, it will drop in price, but to be honest...dial up just bites!  It takes forever to download anything and forever to even get online.  I guess I will just put in in line with the new furniture that I want.  Oh, to win the lottery!

We Need

We are in desperate need of some new home furniture.  DH's recliner has conked out and although he says he can repair it, I kind of doubt it.  And even if he could, when is he going to find the time between work and home stuff.   Justin has jumped on the couch so much that we really need a new couch.  It isn't even a couch...it's a love seat and I hate love seats.  My Dad's chair which he sits in is still okay and we have two glider chairs that are in excellent condition.  We need another recliner and we need a couch.  Unfortunately, neither are in the budget at this point.  I think I would like to have a sectional, but some of my friends have told me that they don't care for their sectionals.  Sigh.  Maybe once I start my new job, I can tuck some money away and save up for the furniture.  We'll get it one day!

Vacation Decisions

We still have not decided on a vacation yet.  Unfortunately, DH will have to coach T-ball during the first part of his vacation.  I thought about checking out the cool vacationing spots in Branson Missouri.  Anyone ever been to Branson or Missouri for that matter?  They do have some awesome getaways.  I don't know who I am kidding because I will be starting a new job soon and probably will have to throw our vacation plans out the door.  I am so glad I got the job, but man do we need a vacation.  For all those going on vacation, have an awesome time.  I am determined to at least plan some weekend jaunts.  This summer has to be fun this year!

Yard Work

So, I don't think I have told you, but we have been doing a lot of yard work recently.  We now have yard markers that light the path up to our front door.  It is nice to be able to see the yard at night and also to not have to worry about tripping on the way up to the front door.  We also finally put our address on our house.  For some reason, it wasn't on there when we bought the house.  We also trimmed our rose bush which is right in the middle of our yard.  The yard looks so nice when it is mowed.  We live on 3 acres here at home and let me tell you...that is hard to keep nice and tidy looking.  My sister does most of the mowing on our John Deere riding mower, although I do enjoy mowing as well.  We still have more planting to do, but our yard is really starting to look nice.  I will have to take a picture when it is all complete.

Uncomfortable to Talk About

DH and I have been talking a lot about living wills, living trusts, wills, Funeral Insurance and other unpleasant things, but things that you really do have to think about.  Because of recent events going on with our life, I did purchase some software to get our wills and living wills started.  Then we just have to have them notarize and we can bypass the whole lawyer thing.  Unfortunately one never knows what is going to happen and I keep putting it off, but I know this is important.  Especially, the living will.  I don't want to be in a vegetated state without people knowing what my wishes are.  I didn't know that a will only covers you when you are deceased...a living will covers you if you cannot make decisions.  Anyway, we plan to work on this soon and get our ducks all lined up in a row (so to speak). 

Broadway

Rosie O'Donnell frequently talks about what Broadway play she has recently seen.  I have always been envious of those who live in NY or who have access to see a Broadway play.  That is one thing I want to do before I die...I want to see a Broadway play.  I really wanted to see The Producers when Matthew Broderick was in it, but that didn't happen.  I wouldn't even know how to go about getting tickets.  I guess you would go through a new york ticket broker or buy them on the web or something.  I still would have to figure out how to get to NY and save my pennies just for that.  One day I will see that play on Broadway.  You can count on that!

I Wonder.....

Everyone knows how much of a shopping addict I am.  Well, really a QVC shopping addict.  I wonder if there has ever been any market research regarding people who are addicted to shopping channels.  Just today, I purchased these black onyx earrings from Gems TV for a really great price.  I just turned the television on and they were there...calling my name.  I know there has to be others out there like me.  It would be interesting to know how many of us are so addicted that we just like to hear it in the background when we do other things..like housework or office work.  Uggg...there are days when I am better than others and lately I have been pretty good, but it is a struggle.  I still say it is a side effect of one of my medications, but I have no proof of that.  I never used to be a QVC addict.  I never used to call in on the testimonial line and give testimonials (yes I do this).  I also never used to email the hosts and they email you back!!  Talk about enabling! LOL  I know it could develop into a huge problem, but I tell ya..I just enjoy watching shopping channels without even buying.  I think I need a life!

Software

I need to get some new software so I can make the gals new business cards.  We recently got a new computer that has Windows Vista on it and my old software isn't compatible with Windows Vista.  The business cards that we currently have are kind of old and outdated.  I like our new office computer and am getting used to Windows Vista, but it is a pain when most of the software out there is not Vista compatible.  If anyone knows of a program that creates business cards, flyers and the like, please let me know because I need a new program.  I am sure that the software industry will catch up and create new software that is compatible with Vista, but until then, I'll just have to punt.

My Sister's B-Day

So, my sister's birthday is coming up and I am not sure what the heck to get her.  She has been asking for a truck toolbox for her truck, but I don't know very much about truck toolboxes.  I think I might have to leave that up to DH to explore that avenue.  You all know my addiction to QVC, so maybe DH can get her the truck toolbox and I will get her something girly from QVC, like a ring or a necklace or bracelet or something like that.  She is 6 years older than I am.  I can't believe that we both are in our 40's.  Amazing.  We are SO very different.  Sometimes, I questioned my Mom about the possibility that she was left on the doorstep or something.  LOL  It's funny how siblings can be so different even though they were raised the same way.

Okay, back to thinking about the birthday gift. 

Carley

I am not sure if you know, but we have a cocker spaniel named Carley.  She is about 7 years old and really is a sweetheart.  She is a pretty high maintenance dog and we have to purchase  a lot of dog supplies in order to keep Carley happy and healthy.  She was diagnosed about 3 years ago with this rare blood disorder that is common (so then it wouldn't be rare, would it) in pure bred cocker spaniels.  She has to have certain food, vitamins and regular physicals at the vet to make sure that her platelet count stays at a certain level.  We almost lost her a couple of times and once her platelet count was so low that the vet said if she had got the slightest cut or wound, she would have bled to death in seconds.  We love our Carley and I will have to post a picture of her.  We also have 5 cats, but that's a whole other story!
