A little over a week ago, a UPS driver was killed while driving back from his UPS route. He hit hail on the road and lost control of his vehicle. The coroner said he died instantly. He was 48 years old.
Jeff and I went to the funeral today. They had a special section reserved for UPS employees and their wives/husbands. It was such a huge area that I was sure it would never be filled. It was. The guys had gotten together and asked the family if it would be appropriate for the guys/gals to come in their uniforms. The family said that would be wonderful if all the employees did that as Tim (the man killed) was going to be buried in his UPS uniform. DH and my sister made ribbons and UPS donated pins to hold the ribbons together. Every driver wore a ribbon in honor of Tim today. As the service was going on, I looked around and discovered that the entire section that I was sitting in was filled with brown. Men and women in their brown uniforms, holding Kleenex, crying, consoling one another and some just sobbed holding their heads in their hands. I can't tell you the feeling that welled up inside me when I looked around and saw all the brown. Every single UPS driver was there today. Everyone. I cried like a baby today.
Today, I saw what brown can do for me. It made me VERY proud.
