Just a Spoon Full of Sugar

New Year's Eve Day

I got up early this morning to go get the crab that I had reserved.  We have this one crab stand in Humboldt County that has the best crab.  You have to reserve it on Christmas and New Year's because it always sells out.  Anyway, after I picked up the crab, I went to the grocery store to get some snack stuff, some sparkling cider for J tonight and some hard stuff for us!  It will probably only be me and J who makes it until midnight.  My son got my late night genes and is a night owl like his Mom.  It is going to be hard to get him back on an early schedule next week!

Right now, I am reading my Woman's World magazine and J is watching Race for Your Life Charlie Brown.  He is addicted to Charlie Brown right now and I am thrilled because he is watching the same exact shows I watched as a kid.  It is kind of cool.

So, our New Year's Eve dinner is Surf and Turf.  We have crab and also Tiger Prawns that we splurged on.  I can't wait because I love Tiger Prawns.  The guys can eat all the crab they want..I want the Prawns!!

I need to make banana bread because I have dying bananas in my fruit bowl, but right now I just want to be lazy.

Projects Projects Projects!

Here I sit.  With all these holiday projects I wanted to complete over the break.  I am not going to make all my goals.  Oh well.  Today, J and I are going to work on his room and redecorating it.  I think we are going to pick out a piece of carpet to lie down in Justin's room...something that will give him more warmth and look better.  It is the same carpet when we moved in and it is yucky poo poo.  LOL

Okay, I need another cup of coffee before I start on this endeavor.

New Year's Resolutions

Every year it is the same thing for me.  I make this New Year's resolution and have all this positive energy and motivation behind it.  In the past, it has been everything from losing weight, exercising more, making better choices, being more organized, etc. etc. etc.  As with each resolution, I may make it to mid-January or even February, but then I fizzle out and just decide to postpone whatever resolution I had picked for that year and try again the following year.

This year I have decided to go a different route.  My resolution for next year is to become a better Mom.  I have actually gone a further step and announced it on 10millionresolutions.com.  I want to laugh more with my son, play more with my son, read more with my son...I want to be a little kid again with my son.  I want to stop stressing over the small stuff like dirty socks missing the clothes hamper or a clutter of toys splashed all around the house.

I don't know if I am going to have another child or not.  The chances are pretty slim and I want to be the best person, parent, Mom and I want my son to be proud of me.  I want to teach my son things that will enhance his life and mine.  I want to be a fun Mom.  I don't want his friends to dread going over to J's house because his Mom is such a drag.  I am 40 years old and I don't want to feel 40.

I feel good about this resolution because I know I can do it and it is something is "me" focused, but benefits my son.  It is much easier to cop out on yourself than to disappoint a loved one.  So, 2007...my resolution is to be a better Mom to J and to love him even more than I do now (if that is possible).

Nice

We had such a nice holiday.  In fact, we are still clinging to it.  J is in his jammies playing games and I am enjoying some coffee and watching my soaps.  Yes, we are being lazy and it feels WONDERFUL.  I got everything I wanted since I picked it out. ;)  I got a new purse, makeup bag, wallet and earrings.  Oh, and Justin picked out these really warm and fuzzy slippers.  J got bombarded with toys from the grandparents and we had picked up a few things for him as well.  He is absolutely thrilled with the clock that Santa got for him.  He wanted a plain clock like the little boy in Polar Express had and let me tell you, it is hard to find a regular bell clock that isn't digital!  We got lucky and found one at K-mart.  He packs it around the house kissing it.  LOL

The kitty is sleeping soundly next to me, the heater is on full blast, it is pouring down rain and is cold, but it feels good to just be here vegging.

Christmas Eve and a Thank You

Well, it is Christmas Eve and we usually open all gifts except for the gifts that Santa brings tonight while we are sleeping.  However, J has been marking off the days until Christmas and insists that we cannot open gifts until tomorrow, so tomorrow it is!  After that, we are going to go to the movies.  It will be a fun day.

The thank you is to the person out there who reads my blog and has commented on it recently.  It is nice to know that someone out there is reading it.  When I visit other blogs, I see my name has been removed so I guess some people just gave up on me or thought my blog was REALLY boring.  Oh well.  It's my life and I am not going to create drama.  So, thanks to you all (or one) who reads.  :)

Need Motivation to Exercise?

With the new year approaching, many people (including myself) will make a New Year's Resolution to lose weight, get in shape, exercise more, eat better, etc.  Usually by the 15th of the month, my resolution has gone out the window.  I know what I need to do in order to be healthier...I need to exercise.  Hands down.  If I would get on a regular exercise regimen, I know I would feel better, look better and have more energy.

That being said, sometimes it feels like the only way for me to succeed is to obtain some personal training.  Unfortunately, I cannot afford a personal trainer like the Oprah or Hollywood stars.  I just need to find something that is easy, something that I like and something that I can incorporate into my daily life.  Having a six year old, I need all the stamina I can get and I am thinking of having another child, so I need to have a fitness level that will allow me to do everything that I want to do in my life.

There is a lot of good information out there and a lot of resources.  I recently found a valuable resource for exercise, diet and overall healthy lifestyles.  Check it out because I think you will be very pleased with the information that you find there.  I have bookmarked it myself so I can go back and get up to date on new entries and new information.

I know if I can just get a grasp on exercising and moving my body more, I won't have all these aches and pains that I am struggling with right now.  It is a goal and a resolution that we all can keep!!

Happy Birthday My Sweet Boy!

Happy Birthday to my sweet boy!  He is 6 years old today and Mommy can't believe it.  It seems like yesterday when we were in the hospital and I was holding this tiny little miracle.  I never could have imagined how someone so small could teach me about unconditional love and a love I had never known before.

I love you tons and tons and tons, J!  I hope today is fun for you.  Mommy has some surprises planned for us to do today.

Went Back Out There

Yes, I went back out to the war zone today.  The Christmas shopping war zone.  I should have my head examined.  I had an OBGYN apt (fun) and decided to combine shopping after my appt.  I figured that I owed myself a treat after being up in stirrups in the afternoon.  Anyhoo...we went out there and I am so sore.  My feet ache, my back aches, I feel like I am a hundred years old.  And you know what my wonderful OBGYN said?  The one I have had for almost 15 years now?  She wanted to know when I was going to get pregnant again!! WHAT?  She told me that I had such an easy pregnancy, delivery, no complications whatsoever that I need to get pregnant soon before it is too late.  She even marked in my chart that a future pregnancy might be an option.  I left there with my head swimming because I actually expected her to tell me that 40 was way too old to have another baby and that I should just get another dog or a goat or something like that.

After this head spinning news, I went to Borders (blah) and then to Pier One Imports (blah blah waste of time) and then to K-mart (jackpot).  I got more shopping done and then came home and finished up some shopping online.  I think I am almost done.  I need to pick out something for ME since I am sure that my hubby will forget or run out of time.

Okay, going to read for a bit before turning in.  I am glad that I decided to take vacation along with J!!

Cinderellie, Cinderellie!

We have been so busy.  We had J's holiday program on Thursday.  On Friday, I helped pass out the cookie dough fund-raiser and was there most of the day.  Yesterday J had a birthday party to attend and then last night we had tickets to see Cinderella.  My sister plays in the band of the theater, so we took J.  He did really well.  He squirmed a bit, but was really very good.  It was a musical and a bit old for him.  Hubby was bored.  LOL  I thought it was very nice.

We did some Xmas shopping on Thursday and my sister did a lot of wrapping on Friday while J was at school.  He is now out on Winter break until the 2nd of January.  I am hoping to get some projects accomplished.  I am moving the office and going to make it into a playroom for J.  I am moving the office to where the dining room is because we never use the dining room area and it is just a clutter zone.  It is going to be a big project.  Then, I want to completely redo J's room, so he can have friends over.  3 of his friends want to have play dates during the break, so I need to coordinate that and I want it to be nice and tidy so they have a place to play.  I haven't had much time for housework so there is clutter everywhere.

Okay, I am so hungry and am going to have some lunch.  I am going to try to update more than I have been. I have been a blog slacker lately!
